All Hallows' Carol: Conclusion

All Hallows' Carol: Conclusion

DIARY PAGES: Evan Scovill

The Spirit of Halloween Future showed me the grid of all of our lights burning brightly, moving one to the next, welcoming, warming, trying to get to the ones who wane with some urgency. That light (why did I never see it shining in the eyes?) is the truth of who we are (how did I never see it coming through the smiles?), the very thing that defines us and calls to the others (each of us jack o' lanterns, lighting the way, waiting on the porch in the dark for you to come home). When I woke, nothing could've surprised me more that I: a) wasn't screaming, b) didn't wet the bed, and c) hadn't missed the day itself; an eternity had not passed - it is All Hallows' Eve. I am a changed person, and I need to get out there and live this new life. First, though ... a shower.
