Soylent Green was people and, as it turned out, so was Mavis Porter's "Everything Cake" (a favorite at the bake sale and a Porter family secret recipe). Cutty would've given her a talking to ages ago, but for the cake's almost indescribable deliciousness. "Not chewy, not dry," Cutty explained to the police (it took 'em a minute, but they eventually showed up). "So light and fluffy, you just know that's the only way some of these folks gonna get to paradise." One of the detectives (a newbie) went into the bushes and threw up, while the other just sighed and shook his head. "This whole area, well, it has a history that seems to always play out," he explained to his partner back in the squad car (handing him a Pepto Bismol tablet).
