DIARY PAGES: Allan George (a.k.a. Gavin MacLeod)
Folks gave me tons of grief about it - playing the Everyman Stooge on the 'No One's More Famous Than Mary Tyler Moore Show' and then The Uniform on 'The Fornication Ferry'. TONS of grief. But I had done everything and worked everywhere for years and years without any regard to my quality of life (only the poor character of my wallet), I was sober at last, and ready to be surrounded by other, real people who were going to be there for each other come hell or high water (there would be both over the years). I needed to be in the company of people who had realized that life itself is an epic dramedy with an ensemble cast, where you're a star on one stage and an extra on somebody else's. I was never lonely on those shows, and I don't mind a happy ending.
