In Memory of Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter
"Ma'am, if you'd like to come up," he said gently, gesturing to the podium. "You're very kind, but let the others go first; I'm fine here," the soul replied. "YOU'RE very kind, actually, but it's not really first come first served here, we're ... about the actual moment of welcome," he responded warmly. "Everything is an "actual moment" isn't it?" the soul said (gesturing that he should sit and he did). "Hello and goodbye; get it done and just rest; speak your mind and hold your tongue; hold them close and let them go; pay attention to every detail and see the big picture. I'm feeling every part of that right now, so I need to sit a spell ... with all of it, with what was my life, and with myself." He marveled at the soul's peacefulness - its stout heart and keen mind that had held itself in service and connection until it was time to become cloudy and float away. "Are you all right, dear?" the soul asked him. "You're working hard; are you taking care?" And he was caught off-guard by the question, instantly moved. This was the way she had always been and now he knew why the earth had been better for it.
