Greys

Greys

The Greys arrived, three elegant women all in gowns that moved as if they were floating, with hair the colors of moonlight (from steel to starshine). "Here," the nurse said. "She's in here. There's a child coming from abroad - making as much haste as they can, but time is not on their side." The Greys entered the hospital suite, moving past the family to take their positions at the head, heart, and foot of the bed. "I will hold the dreams of this world," said the first. "I will hold the love of this world," said the second. "I will hold the pain of this world," said the third and last, heads dropping back with breaths taken. "The tethers are in place; let us begin," came the whisper, and they offered song softly (the family falling into a dream state [the beginning of not remembering], and the plane from Amsterdam catching a tail wind where there was no air current to explain it).
