Normalcy

It was Rory who started dating the werething out in the open, taking it to the movies and the cafe and everywhere else where people could see (the claws, the horns, the 8ft expanse of grey and red scales). Rory refused to speak of it, but would present with it, encouraging people to own their curiosity and ask direct questions (not surprised to find that very few actually did). Rory refused to make anything simpler for them (as they were simple enough), saying things like, "It's a remarkable werepartner - less aggressive than you would think" and "My werelove is not a hellbeast; I'm surprised you can't tell the difference". In the end, they didn't so much as win the whole town over as beat them back to their corners with a new kind of normalcy ... to sit there and let themselves be filled with awe.
